OpenAI is a research and deployment company focused on artificial intelligence. It encompasses both a non-profit organization (OpenAI Inc) and a for-profit corporation (OpenAI LP). OpenAI conducts research in the field of artificial intelligence with the stated aim to promote and develop friendly AI in such a way as to benefit humanity as a whole. They believe their research will eventually lead to artificial general intelligence (AGI), a system that can solve human-level problems, and their mission is building safe and beneficial AGI.
